Webinar 6: The Health Care Improvement Foundation (HCIF) Speaks on Using Health Literacy to Decrease and Stop the Spread of Disease

During the 6th webinar in our series Collaboratives in Action: Responding to COVID19, NRHI member Health Care Improvement Foundation’s (HCIF) Director of Health Literacy Susan Cosgrove shared how HCIF has adapted grant-funded health literacy programming to meet the pressing health communication needs of the COVID-19 pandemic. Cosgrove discussed emerging opportunities for collaboration, and shared a checklist for developing health literacy materials in a time of crisis.

The Health Literacy checklist (to download, click on image) and other COVID-19 related materials  from APHA, CDC, Departments of Health, and many other organizations were translated into more than 63 languages. Some of the translations were conducted by COVID 19 Health Literacy project which partnered with national and international organizations to disseminate COVID related fact sheets to patients to help them know when, and how, to seek care.
