We work to help make our members successful. By addressing key issues that face our Collaboratives, they can better achieve their mission to transform US healthcare community-by-community. Below are some examples of our work.
Healthcare Payment Reform
Beginning in 2006, our members realized that their efforts to improve healthcare quality and contain costs were being increasingly frustrated by healthcare payment systems that did not reward efforts to improve healthcare quality, and often financially penalized them. In response to this, we organized two national summits to build consensus on the fundamental changes needed in healthcare payment systems:
- The 2008 Payment Reform Summit, attended by over 100 healthcare leaders from across the U.S., developed recommendations on how communities could overcome the barriers to implementing the payment reforms recommended in the 2007 Summit.
- The 2007 Payment Reform Summit, attended by nearly 100 healthcare leaders from across the country, developed recommendations on the specific changes needed in healthcare payment systems.
Since then, we have worked to support the efforts of our member Collaboratives to advance payment reform at both the regional and national levels.
